PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

Our prayer shawl group has remained quietly active over the summer months. We continued to meet monthly in our members homes and some of our members choose to knit or crochet at home and donate items to share with those in need of prayer and comfort. We meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. and welcome new friends. Beginners are welcome and we are glad to teach those with no experience. Our group makes chemo caps as well as shawls and lap blankets and they are given free of charge to anyone in need. Please feel free to take what you need from our cabinet in the church lounge on the first floor. I will be delivering several bags of caps to local oncology offices at the end of August also as Helen has been very busy knitting this summer and we are so grateful for the willingness of our members to share with others. This past July was our 3rd year in prayer shawl ministry to our local congregation and community.

September gathering- Wednesday, Sept 15th at 7 p.m. in the church lounge

"Shawls... made for centuries universal and embracing,
symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God.
They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace,
mother, hug, shelter and beautify.
Those who have received these shawls have been
uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings
to fly above their troubles..."

A Shawl Maker's Prayer

Dear Lord:
Bless my hands as I knit today.
May each twist of the yarn guide me to create a pattern of love and comfort in my work and remind me of Your ultimate protection.
Wrap me in Your spirit so that I will be more caring towards those in need.

Grant me patience as I create this shawl.
And bless my handiwork as it travels to bring comfort and peace to someone in need of Your warming embrace.

Amen.
