UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

CLARKS GREEN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

PURPOSE OF THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedomas whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The United Methodist Women of the Clarks Green United Methodist Church are ready to start another year. We will be meeting on Wednesday, September 12 at 11:45 a.m. in the lounge to pack bags for homeless women. All women are invited to come and help! We will go out to lunch after our project (place to be decided).

The rummage sale will be held on Thursday, October 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Friday, October 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. As always, we need helpers to work during the week with sorting, selling, and cleaning up! The rummage sale is UMW’s only fundraiser and the profits are used to fund our many mission projects, both locally, nationally, and across the world. Because we are having a dinner when Bishop Park is here (Sunday, September 30), we will need to set up for the sale after the dinner is over (relocating tables and hauling out the rummage). Please plan to stay after the dinner for a little while to help! PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WE CANNOT ACCEPT TV’S, AIR CONDITIONERS, OR LARGE FURNITURE.

We are continuing our drive for non-perishable food for the Dalton Food Pantry as well as collecting personal items for homeless women. Please help by contributing to these projects. You may place your contributions in the narthex. We also plan to remember our friends from CGUMC who can no longer come to church with small gifts in December and spring.

Thank you for your continuing support of our UMW unit and our projects!

NOTE: Please buy a few items for the bags for homeless women for our September meeting.Needed: small tissues, combs, anti-bacterial lotion, sports bras, chapstick, deodorant.
